Atlanta Symphony Trombone section and Eric Bubacz

Post by CC »

I'm not sure if these have been shared on here yet, but someone showed me some really incredible clips of the Atlanta Symphony Trombone section (Colin Williams, Bill Thomas, George Curran) with Eric Bubacz on Tuba playing some excerpts together.

Respighi Fountains of Rome
Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis
Mahler Symphony No. 2
Host The Planets

These were apparently filmed in September of 2009 as part of a Masterclass.

Great stuff!

Eric is a PA boy and i always enjoyed his playing with the Reading Symphony. Is he in Atlanta now?
I had met him years ago at an International Tuba Day celebration at Millersville U. He was the guest clinician that day. Excellent player and a very nice man.

Eric does live in GA now, teaching at Georgia State. you can still hear him in reading, though. he drives up for most of their concerts. you're right, he is a very nice guy.

Michael is still the principal tubist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Eric is gigging and teaching in the Atlanta area.
My senior year of high school, he was first chair PA all-state band, and I was first chair all-state orchestra. Small world that we are both in the ATL now . . .
