Fantastic YouTube video w/Bernstein

Post by joshwirt »

Just found this great clip on YouTube today with the late, great Maestro Bernstein rehearsing Le Sacre with a festival orchestra:

Great story about 3 minutes into it of Warren Deck and the NY Phil trombone section!

Enjoy!

Year 1987

"The maestro inspires a youth orchestra to give a primal, earthy performance of Igor Stravinsky's masterpiece. Featuring the Scheswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra".
Who was that hidden tubaist playing secco to please the Maestro?

Two bass trumpets? I thought the score only called for one, in Eb?

Sorry, this is Schleswig-Holstien Fest. Orchestra. Those rotary valved trumpets looked like bass trumpets initially. (German players)
