Great stuff!

Makes me want to run down to my local Guitar Center and buy a Cimbasso.

So who is "NNO?"

Is that a valved alto bone?

Isn't that what was orginally used for most of Verdi's music in the pits of the theaters in Italy? Because there was no room for the slides (in the inn?)

of is that just folklore "or Italian uban legend"

NNO: http://www.nnck.nl/

The piston valve trombones at least in Europe often come with short bodies with an extra coil incorporating the main tuning slide. Mine is by Mahillon.

The 2nd and 3rd players use larger bore valve trombones of the German/Czech tradition.
