Found this great video on youtube whilst looking around!!

I think the tuba players are Warren Deck, Chuck Dallenbach, and Chester Smitz.......can anyone verify this for me?? If it is, all I have to say is WOW

Nope. It's the large bits of this horn (Conn / Geib) with an Alexander valve section.

I notice the leadpipe is curving around in front of the valves. I'm guessing this was changed on most present day horns to protect from dings and dents in the leadpipe(?), any idea when this became standard practice?

Great! The whole symphony was released on CD if you can find a copy - Philips 426 487-2 (recorded 7/1989). I was lucky to come across by chance in the discount bin at a London music store a few years back, for if I remember correct only 2.99 GBP :)

Canadian Brass also recorded an equally good Wagner CD in conjunction with brass players from a couple of German orchestras.

Very worthwhile DVD to own, the Gabrieli and Monteverdi pieces are awesome!
Warren Deck, Chester Schmitz and of course Chuck Daellenbach on Tuba, and all the rest of the fine players. :tuba:

Who wrote the transcription of Beethoven 5 (and the Egmont Overture that appears on the same album)? I'd love to play it.

What other good brass transcriptions are there of Beethoven Symphonies?
