I've been watching this group's videos on youtube for a while now (especially the ones with the solo ballad on valve bass trombone* and the same melody with it and the bari sax super quiet**- great sound!). Some of them are less interesting to me than others but I still kinda get them. This tune, though, rocks! Not a hardcore tuba part, but it kicks and the ascending bari sax really adds to it. The solo mallet-thingie is awesome, especially at 2:23!

This site lists Per-Ake Holmlander on tuba & cimbasso (not Bass Valve Trombone - but is there a real difference?)

Here's probably the best visual comparison (although the valved bass here is REALLY small!)-

Basically, a cimbasso (contrabass valve trombone) is a bigger to much bigger valved bass trombone which makes sense if you think about the difference between an F bass trombone and an F contra. No comment on whether that makes sense! What do I know anyways- MY giant trombone only has 2 valves! :D
I really like his setup- F tuba and F valved bass (and his tuba seems to have a 4+1 setup so muscle memory is probably similar). Hmm...
