Motown bass lines on tuba

I finally got the book "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" about the amazing bass player James Jamerson, and have been trying to learn some of the bass line transcriptions in the back of the book. One thing that is unique about these lines is that they use low E frequently regardless of the key, and give no impression that E is the low limit of the bass.
Here is how these bass lines sound on sousaphone:
How long has that evening train been gone? http://www.supload.com/listen?s=NGx9Yl
I heard it through the grapevine http://www.supload.com/listen?s=czzBl3
Aint no mountain high enough http://www.supload.com/listen?s=8Wc0ES
