Dr. Phillips played with the The Pasadena (Texas) Memorial Concert Band (now the Gulf Coast Concert Band) in a concert in 1993, and they played Big Joe, with 8 tubas! This clip also includes Dr. Phillips soloing on "The Carioca".
I'm not sure if Dr. Phillips was a regular in that band or if he just joined them for this concert. The announcer refers to the regulars in the tuba section as he introduces the piece, after he introduces Dr. Phillips.
