I stumbled upon this performance by a Japanese brass ensemble from Kyoto. They appear to be quite young, and 4 out of 5 are female ... including the Tubist. I think they're pretty good. The young lady playing Tuba, in particular.

Question: what Tuba is she playing ??

thanks

Beautifully played with terrific intonation. Well done!

I thought that this particular march was titled "Thunder and Blazes", but wiki confirms "In 1910 Canadian composer Louis-Philippe Laurendeau arranged "Entrance of the Gladiators" for a small band under the title "Thunder and Blazes", and sold this version throughout North America."

There is a girls high school just outside of Kyoto (Tachibana*) that has an excellent marching band - my band did several joint performance with them many years ago in Osaka and Kyoto. They are still very active internationally. I think I spotted the trombonist in this clip - maybe the only boy I have ever seen in that group.

* If you think the sound on this video was remixed or anything - no! They have a very powerful, professional sound (and they dance while playing quite well. )

My bad - I was watching it on my cell phone. Too damn small for my aging eyes. Maybe I need new eyeglasses (or maybe a bigger phone)

I've always had bad eyes, but seeing up close was never a problem.

Then, I woke up one morning and couldn't see the newspaper. It's as though it literally happened overnight.

Progressive lenses =
