The Grumbly Old Bear
Not anywhere near a perfect performance, but here you go, my rendition of a classic. Looking forward to soloing again, what a rush!

Re: The Grumbly Old Bear
Quite a compliment coming from you. I think the York is going to be just the same, I'll know in a couple days as it should be here. The other York 91 I played the sound and intonation was very good, as well, just as good as that horn. I just can't AFFORD two contrabass horns at the moment, or I would keep it, especially after what you've done to it. The rotors now feel like Miraphone rotors, which have always been my favorite that I've tried.bloke wrote:sound is clear as a bell...intonation is spot-on...
The minor errors were just nerves...The more you do stuff like that, the more your nerves will be in the background. I'm really glad you had that opportunity. ' great last note !!!

Great performance Zac! You nailed the last note with intestinal fortitude!
Not to hijack your thread or anything, but I sampled a few other performances of this piece (looking for a quality recording of band & soloist) and came across this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMjqOJ462Zg" target="_blank
Is it just me, or is the intonation just WAY OFF? (especially the last note) I mean this guy sounded like a pretty accomplished player with very good tone & overall technique, but the intonation really hurt my ears
(most obvious starting at 2:56) the first section is not bad at all.

I actually haven't looked at that one, and I don't have speakers at my desk at work. I'll give it a listen on lunch, or whenever I get home!Untersatz wrote:Great performance Zac! You nailed the last note with intestinal fortitude!

Nice job! It makes me want to play it now. The only tuba solo I've played since my senior recital was a rendition of "O Holy Night" for a church Christmas party. Well done sir!

I think we skipped intonation and went straight to the wrong note!!Untersatz wrote:
