Oystein Baadsvik - Here is Some Beautiful Playing

Post by MackBrass »

Thought i would share this as it is absolutely incredible. Wish I was back in college or still teaching as this would be on my recital.

There is also a version with strings that is even better.

After hearing it i did pick up a copy but the written version is slightly different than what he performs. My recommendation for anyone looking to play this is listen to all his recordings to pick up the changes that are not written as well as some of the grace notes as they really add another dimension making it more dramatic.

Enjoy

That is very beautiful. Thanks for the link, Tom.

I don't get how he plays with such a relaxed sound with his face all wadded up that way, but the results speak for themselves.

Agreed. If I ever grow up I want to sound like that.

I am looking at it now and i will say its a beast. My endourance is not where it needs to be for this piece. My favorite is his version with strings, now that one i could handle as he leaves out the really hard section and gives it to the strings, lol.

I love how the guy flipping the music for the piano can't help but smile. I know I would be just being that close to him much less getting to here him play in person :D :tuba:
