I'm probably the world's WORST at identifying tubas...

...Is that a "Tuono" (rotary "Thor")...??

Confirmed, it's a Neptune. Here's another photo of him.

The detachable leadpipe and the the 5th valve lever were the giveaways on the video for me (man that's pathetic of me!).

That's a great deal of clarity for Neptune...

...which is a demonstration (a post I stuck in another thread) of yet another very fine player who demonstrates that "Matteson-esque" possibly-innate ability to understand what any particular instrument requires of its player to offer the type of sound that the player is seeking to achieve.

(I'm assuming that sound was THE sound he was seeking to achieve, as it is a VERY good sound.)

Lovely sound. I wondered about the mouthpiece. There's a brief close-up of it here. I'm no expert but it looks like something other than a Dr. Young.

Romera? He is Spanish... And it seems a little familiar, even if you can't read the engraving.

Maybe the Romera Sergio Carolino signature model?

The Neptune is pretty small, isn't it?

Beautiful playing and great sound. :tuba: He makes that Neptune sound (to me) a lot like a good Yorkbrunner.

Yeah, it's "only" a 6/4 tuba

According to Romera's FB page, that model (no longer on their site) looks like this:

A year or two ago, when I was looking into them and they were still shown on their webpage... The SC8 looked more like the mouthpiece shown in the picture with his Neptune.

It's in Spanish (and the Google translation is pretty rough), but it basically says that Eduardo asked Toni Romera to make a mouthpiece for him, so that's what it is. I'm not sure if this model ever was sold to the public, but I'm sure someone could ask Romera and find out.

Thank you very much for your nice comments, my friends.

I am Eduardo Nogueroles, Composer, Conductor and Teacher of Euphonium and Tuba at the Professional Conservatory of Valencia (Spain). You can see my work at www.eduardonogueroles.com or buy some of my tuba works at www.potenzamusic.com

Indeed, my tuba is a Neptune 6/4, designed by Mel Culbertson for B & S.

I play Romera mouthpieces designed by me, in three numbers: 6 (F tuba) 8 (Medium CC tuba) and 12 (Big CC tuba). Then can be ordered at Romera.

I leave you a couple of youtube links about my recordings.

A hug from Spain.
