Re: Update Update
I switched from a PT-64 on my F tuba to a Conn Helleberg. Intonation improved, sound was as good, and the low register spoke with a much greater ease. It's amazing how much a mouthpiece can make a difference!

Good news: the similar lump I got from eating a steering wheel in school went away, but not for several years. Bad news: I didn't seem to get any smarter...

Re: Update Update
Recently, my sort-of-old laptop has been running extremely loudly and very hot.
I just popped it open to check the fan, thinking maybe it was clogged. Sure enough, the vent was almost completely blocked with dust. So I cleaned it well and put it back together.
The result? It runs MUCH cooler, but the fan still runs a LOT and is extremely loud. I think I still need to replace/upgrade/update my machine, but at least I can delay it a little longer now.

Re: Update Update
My Internet router bit the dust last Monday after about four years of service. I installed a new Netgear N600 'dual band' router on Tuesday. Norton found 53 tracking 'cookies' on my computer today... apparently spawned by the Netgear installation software. Never had that many tracking cookies at a time before. Usually just two or three weekly.
Windows 7 continues to crash for a few days after each MicroSoft 'update'. After a couple of days the drivers seem to resolve their differences.
You have been updated. That is all.

My 1st generation Asus Transformer android tablet died a couple days ago.
I'm now questioning whether to purchase a new tablet or just go out and buy a chromebook.

Re: Update Update
I managed to introduce malware onto my laptop in June, which is now causing substantial grief to me, in the form of having to have everything wiped off and start afresh. I am pretty sure that all of the programs I want to reinstall will be fairly easy, with the exception of Finale Print Music. Stand by for a whiny update with a request for information.

Re: Update Update
I started with Finale Print Music several years ago and have since upgraded to Finale 2014. I've not had any problems with any of the installations or updates even though Finale has been in the throes of ownership changes recently.bearphonium wrote:......I am pretty sure that all of the programs I want to reinstall will be fairly easy, with the exception of Finale Print Music. ....

Therein lies the rub, and why I finally went and got the darn thing repaired… I had upgraded to Finale 2014 and couldn't get it to upgrade. They had to remove 2011, so I don't know if the update will load. I have it on the Mac laptop, but it is much harder for me to use on that platform.
