We do get to fill our own motorcycles. Stations where they know me let me run my own card and pick up the pump. Stations where they don't vary; some will let you, some must run your card and hand you the pump. NO ONE puts gas into my bikes but me.

Re: Update Update
Got tired of buzzing and flickering fluorescent lights in the shop and sprung for a few LED fixtures to give them a try. If you haven't made the switch yet... these things are awesome!
Don't buy just replacement LED tubes for your old fixtures. I tried some of them too and they suck! Go for the complete fixtures and be done with it.

Re: Update Update
Yup. Bought one each of the 3200 and 4000 lumens to get a feel for whether I really need the brighter one. The smaller one works just fine. From this point forward I'll not buy any new old-fashioned tubes or mess with replacing ballasts. For $39 for a fixture with built-in tubes that will outlive me... it seems sort of stupid to not upgrade.Heavy_Metal wrote:Home Depot specials, right?TubaTinker wrote:Got tired of buzzing and flickering fluorescent lights

Re: Update Update
My one problem with LEDs I the stupid claims on the packaging. "Lasts 22 years" but the fine print says (based on 3 hours per day). Now, they still last a really long time, but if I leave my lights on more than 3 hours (more like 18 hours, honestly), then its more like 3.5 or 4 years.
Still a long time, but 22 years? Come on!

50,000 hours divided by 8 hours a day is 6250 days. Five days a week equals 24 years. It's gonna outlive me!

Oh, ok... I think my bulbs were rated at 25,000 hours.
Either way, much better than the crap incandescent bulbs out there now. Last ones I had in our kitchen lasted about 6 weeks!

Re: Update Update
LEDs are going through teething problems at the moment- some of the street lights around here have been changed over to LEDs, and we've had some early failures. We'll see how they hold up- same with the cheapo LEDs you get at home centers.
Meanwhile, I'll hang onto my old-school fluorescents- they don't buzz or flicker like the cheapo ones do, and I don't have to replace the entire fixture when they quit.

Everyone around here seems to be taking advantage of the fact that $1.65 still seems good and is charging more than they could.

I saw the same thing after the workshop:bloke wrote:' nice to get away from ($1.999) Pittsburgh, PA prices before I needed a fill-up in my van.Curmudgeon wrote:Just paid US$1.06/gal.
Not a typo...
Just (simply) driving c. 30 miles south down I-79 and turning the corner westbound to I-70, the prices dropped a quarter...and (another 50 miles) they dropped another 30 cents.
Maryland: $1.99
Pennsylvania: $2.02
Ohio: $1.39
