Slide Grease Question

Post by Big_Zak »

I have a friend that says he started putting KY on his slides instead of slide grease. Has anyone else heard of this? I though about trying it, but I don't want to screw up my slides. I've tried a few different slide greases, but my slides are still sluggish (even when I add value oil to the grease). As a tuba player I know there will be ridiculous replies, but this is a serious question. :tuba:

KY is water based . I don't see how it could be harmful. Does it work well for your friend ?
I've been using STP oil treatment for years with no problems what so ever. I put on the very thinnest layer I possibly can and that's all it needs.
