I just read an article on 3D printing of historical mouthpieces for saxophone and have to wonder how long before we can download a file into our own printer to make that C4 (mouthpiece, not HE) that you've always wanted.

It is already doable. I have found a trombone piece with presets for known pieces on "thingiverse".

FWIW, our own Sloan is working on something that will allow you to design about any parameter in his university lab. It is burried in this thread

Thanks for the link! I did a search for 3D printing prior to opening the thread and didn't get a hit. It kept saying it was ignoring '3D'. And there are a lot of threads with the word "printing". I assume the prices for the printers will decline to where they become a common household appliance.

sometimes using Tubnet search is frustrating...at best. I believe you can use google to search Tubenet with the following formulation:
site:forums.chisham.com B&S f tuba comparison
Whatever your searching for would be plugged-in in place of what is in Blue above.
