Two tuba openings at Trevecca in Nashville

Post by MartyNeilan »

Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville has two tuba openings for this upcoming fall.
The two current guys are leaving; one teaching band and the other to work in a recording studio - the nerve of them!
(Fine print: We may have a violinist coming in who doubles on tuba?!?!, possibly limiting to one opening)

Partial music scholarships are available, and generous academic scholarships abound.

Why Trevecca?
Departments of Music AND Music Business within the Music Division - prepare for virtually any career in the music field.
Internship opportunities at top studios in Nashville.
High placement rate for music ed students.
Reciprocal agreement with Vanderbilt to play in the Spirit of Gold marching band (with scholarship $$$ from payable at the end of the season)
Great climate in Nashville - not too hot, not too cold.
Lots of cultural and recreational activities, whatever your taste.
The Titans and the Predators.

What I can do for you at Trevecca:
Push you to your uppermost potential as a tuba player.
Emphasis on a solid tone, breathing, intonation, and rhythm.
Musicality and phrasing.
Study of orchestral excerpts and solo material, with plenty of opportunities to solo before classmates.
Prepare a diverse repertoire for a senior recital.
Take music very seriously but have fun doing it!

By developing rock solid fundamentals as an undergraduate tuba player, you will feel comfortable in any grad school aspirations should you choose to pursue that route.

BUMP

I would highly recommend this school for anyone looking into recording or the business side of music, as there are few places out there where you can get the kind of real-world experience you will here, taught by profs who have been doing this for decades.
