If anyone has the means to make it to Atlanta in June, I highly recommend the International Euphonium Institute for the euph players. Killer line up this year, and you'll never be in a friendlier atmosphere where you can hang with great players all day. ...well, since Martin opened the door...
SOTTO VOCE QUARTET to be featured ensemble at MIRAPHONE ACADEMY!
The Academy will have two parts to it: SOLO (with Demondrae Thurman, euphonium, & Dennis Askew, tuba, and others) and
CHAMBER MUSIC: with Sotto Voce.
Both events will happen at UNCG (Univ. of North Carolina @ Greensboro) and happen over a Th-Sun. the last two weekends in June.
For more info, go here:
http://tubaquartet.com/academy.html" target="_blank
for info. regarding the super-down-to-Earth tuition price, and housing, contact Dennis Askew on this board at:

I believe we may still have room for one more quartet.

Re: Summer Festivals 2009
I would like to put in my own plug here as well ...
I just signed on to the faculty at the Maine Music Camp which is part of the Atlantic Music Festival. The festival is based at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. The program is open to all students (ages 9-24) who might be interested in a 2,4 or 6 week summer camp experience playing music and enjoying all the best that area of the world has to offer. The camp includes private lessons for instrumentalists as well as large ensemble, chamber music, and a concert choir to perform with.
In addition, the camp has a wide range of other programs, including choral, musical theater, dance, music composition, film etc. Anyone who has students or is personally interested in any of this would also be encouraged to check into the programs.
You can see the website at: http://www.mainemusiccamp.com" target="_blank"
There are financial aid packages available as well as potential counseling opportunities for students older than 17. You can send them to this area of the site to look into this: http://www.mainemusiccamp.com/index.php ... &Itemid=20" target="_blank"
If you are interested in coming to the camp I ask you to send me a personal message so we can talk directly before you apply to the camp.
All my best and good luck with all of your summer plans!
