Euphonium Players Needed at Tanglewood!

Post by benvas »

Hi Everyone,

My name is Ben Vasko and I'll be on faculty at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute this summer as a brass coach for the Young Artists Instrumental Program. We are looking for euphonium players aged 14-19 to participate in our Tuba/Euphonium Workshop from June 19-July 2 and Young Artists Wind Ensemble program from July 3-31.

The two-week Tuba & Euphonium Workshop addresses the technical and musical aspects of playing the tuba and euphonium. The Tuba & Euphonium Workshop is led by Director Mike Roylance, Boston Symphony Orchestra principal tuba and BU Lecturer in Music, and Associate Director, Claude Kashnig.

Students can expect:
Class time focused on fundamentals including technique, musicianship, and performance skills.
Study of solo and orchestral repertoire.
Audition preparation.
Individualized attention and masterclasses.
Performance opportunities.
Boston University transferable course credit.

In the YAWE, students will receive:

Daily wind ensemble rehearsals with two concert performances in Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, led by conductors H. Robert Reynolds and David Martins.
Two private lessons with BUTI faculty, with additional lesson opportunities with BSO members and guest artists.
Chamber music rehearsals and coachings several times per week with BUTI faculty, and approximately four chamber music performances throughout the season.
Master classes with some of the world’s most esteemed music professionals (past visits and classes include Mike Roylance, Robert Sheena, Tim Genis, Daniel Katzen, Ronald Barron, David Krauss, and the United States Marine Band).
Access to all Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Music Center concerts, as many as 15 events a week.
4 hours of transferable course credit.
