University of Akron grad assistantship and studio auditions

Post by CJBlaha »

The tuba & euphonium studio at The University of Akron is looking for more talented musicians to join us. Currently at 20 students, studio members actively perform and teach throughout Akron and NE Ohio. Scholarships are available for, both, euphoniumists and tubists. Recent graduates have pursued advanced studies at Michigan & Michigan State, as well as enjoying performing careers with the US Army & Marine Bands.

The University of Akron is home to over 18,000 students and offers opportunities to be engaged in the musical communities of Akron, Canton and Cleveland, as well as work with the excellent band programs in our area. http://www.uakron.edu

In addition to UA ensembles (bands, tuba-euph ensemble, brass choir, chamber music), students play with area brass bands and have opportunities to develop their teaching chops by assisting with high school marching bands and teaching private lessons.

Scholarship opportunities for undergrads include music and academic scholarships, as well as an automatic $1000 scholarship for students who play in the UA Marching Band. Graduate assistantships in performance are available, as well as assistantships in music education, conducting or as a paid member of the marching band staff. Full assistantships currently cover tuition + approx. $7200 this year.
