Openings at Carnegie Mellon University

Post by Craig Knox »

I'm looking for a few good tuba players!

There will be at least two openings for undergraduate or graduate tuba performance majors for my selective studio (4-6 total) at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music for Fall of 2023, with pre-recorded pre-screening materials due December 1. Please check the CMU School of Music website https://www.cmu.edu/cfa/music/apply/index.html for detailed application information and audition requirements. Graduate assistantships (up to full tuition waiver) and undergraduate financial aid are available for accepted students. In the past year, CMU tuba students and recent graduates have won a position in the U.S. Naval Academy Band, First Prize in the Falcone International Solo Competition (Artist Division), First Prize in the MWRTEC Solo Competition (Student Division), and advanced to the semi-final or final rounds in many professional auditions, such as the Buffalo Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic, Hartford Symphony, Richmond Symphony, and U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force bands. I have a great deal of confidence in my students and our program, and I encourage you to audition to be part of it!
