Fletcher/Tabbert Memorial Great Lakes Cities Brass Band.

Post by Haugan »

New Professional Ensemble offers openings for: Solo Eb Cornet, Solo/Section Bb Cornet, Bb Flugelhorn, Eb Altohorn, Bb Baritone Horn, Bb Euphonium, EEb Bass, BBb Bass, and Percussion/Tympani. Rate of pay is currently anticipated at $100.oo reh./$125.oo per concert, with no guarantee for a number of services. Concerts will be scheduled based on musician availability.

A Conductor/Music Director Search is also in progress.

The G.L.C.B.B. will serve as an example to the troubled inner city youth of the cities of Chicago and Milwaukee, and to offer these youths hope of deliverence from a life of crime and/or dispair.

The band is named for John Fletcher and Michael Tabbert, both of whom who were taken from this world prematurely; one a musician and victim of a stroke, the other a Milwaukee citizen and victim of a fatal gunshot suffered during a robbery.

It is our hope that similar/smaller ensembles resembling the "parent" orginization of the Fletcher/Tabbert Memorial Band will be created and sponsored, and that some of the youths in the inner city will take interest in participating in these ensembles as an alternative to the activities currently available to inner city youth.

Highly qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. Prior Police/Salvationist/Brass Band experience is advantageous, although not required. Use of British/British-style instruments will not be required in performance, or during the audition proccess.

Please mail resume or make inquiries to: professor emeritus Paul Haugan, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts - Dept of Music, or contact Prof. Haugan personally at paulhaugan@sbcglobal.net.

Deadline for applications is May 31, 2006.

Auditions/appointments will be held/made sometime in June of 2006, with concerts commencing shortly thereafter. Employment is expected to be seasonal in nature.
