John Reycraft won the St. Louis audition. I just spoke to him from the bottom of some kind of drink. Here is a guy who has worked his tail off since I met him 12 years ago at IU, and now he is enjoying the benefits.

Congrats!!!

(Damn, he's breaking up my quartet too!)

Despite my occupation, I cannot say how all, or even MY armed force (Air Force, in this case) handle things like this. I have heard that sometimes members can be let out of their enlistments for "once in a lifetime" opportunities. I also know for a fact that doesn't always work. There may even be changes to the enlistment policy that could help the military musician get out of enlistments, but nothing is set in stone yet.

As for John, his enlistment with the Navy is up in September, so I believe it is going to work out just fine.
