Low Brass Teacher wanted in Jordan.

Post by MartyNeilan »

The National Music Conservatory in Amman, Jordan is seeking a low brass teacher (tuba, trombone, euphonium.) The NMC would expect you to play with their orchestra as part of the job. When the schedule for next scholastic year is finalized, there may be opportunities to teach theory, harmony and/or history classes. They will be able to offer you JD600/month which is around $846. They can help in negotiating with land lords to pay on monthly basis (Jordan often requires the full year in advance.)
There may be the possibility of also assisting at the Amman Baptist School, a private English-speaking academy.
Jordan is a safe, modern country with an excellent climate, friendly people, wonderful food, and many Western conveniences. Jordan is also internationally known for their outstanding health care (they have one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.) English is widely spoken in addition to Arabic. This was a position I myself had strongly considered but, due to the expenses of having a wife and two kids, could not financially pull off. This would be an ideal opportunity for a responsible single person looking to put their music degree to practical use.
