The Danish Radio did indeed have their audition this past weekend. There were ~~28-9 people invited and 24 people showed up. The audition was held over two days, the first round in the early part of the day sunday where 6 people advanced. From those six, two wer invited to perfom with the orchestra on Monday where the committee has offered a trial to a Swedish player (Kalle? Please forgive me, lots of new names there to try and remember).
The audition had some nice music for those keeping track:
1st Round: Vaughan Williams 1/2
Solo Etude (some one informs me it is an old Blazevich, quite low and musically challeging): Both VW and Etude w/ piano
Ride
2nd Round:
Tchaikovsky 1812
Fountains
Nielsen 4/5
Norgaard Symphony no.6
(For those who like to play low, fast and loud, a real challenge! Written for Jens Bjorn Larsen, this work taes the tuba from a pedal F# up through ann Eb above middle C in one part, the rest of the excerpt asks the tuba player to play all in the contra range, between C (below staff) and the pedal F#. Challenging and very virtuostic.)
Wagner: Siegfried
Hungarian March
Meistersinger Ov.
Ruders: Concerto i Pieces (V): This Variation is very beautiful, and shows the lyriical aspect of the tuba. It is one to look for in the future
3rd Round:(w/orchestra)
Prokofief 5, Bruckner 7,Sibelius 2,Mendelssohn MSNDream Overture.
Cheers,

Good question--Any Americans at this thing?
