You go, Jamie Lipton!!!
Aw, thanks, mysterious poster. :?:
Does any one know the status of the quartet competition?
This is an incomplete list, but some of the finalists are:
- University of Wisconsin @ Madison
- University of Georgia alumni
- University of Georgia current students
- Michigan (there were two, but the one in the finals is the Battista/Elliot/Devereaux/Jantsch group)
- University of Alabama
- a group called the XL quartet, I'm not sure where they're from

There might be as many as two more groups that played in the finals this morning. I guess results will be announced on Thursday at the awards ceremony.

Go Aaron!

He was a semi-finalist on BOTH Euphonium and Tuba. He's had to work on both sets of music and then play both on the same day for the competition (I haven't heard how short the time interval was on this). He's a euphonium player first, so the quality of current euphonium players has got to be pretty high!

King 4V BBb ~1913
Holton 4V Eb 1920
Holton 3V Eb 1930

Man, nearly half of all the euphonium players are out of North Texas. They must have one hell of a studio down there!

Finals

Post by katfey »

Finals were today, but results won't be announced until tomorrow.

I tried to get the jazz results and quartet finalists but my source
tells me they had already removed the lists from the hallway
where they had been posted.

I will try to get the results and post them tomorrow.

There were three jazz finalists. One of them was Jamie Warren from the University of Tennessee. Go Jamie! Sorry I don't have the full list.

Post by SirCharls »

Congrats to all the winners, but let's hear it for the semi-finalists too! I had some friends in there, and it is quite an accomplishment to make it to the next round of anything!

(Congrats Dan and eh, I guess Jason Koi too...)

Charlie Ortega

PS - My only kinda cool thing was to be able to play at the welcoming reception with my quintet. If anyone actually heard us, we would love feedback!
