Western Kentucky University

Hi Everyone,

I'll be teaching at Western Kentucky University during the '07-'08 school year as Visiting Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium. Joe Stites, the regular tuba/euphonium professor at WKU, will be filling in as director of bands for a year, and during that time I'll cover the tuba/euphonium teaching.

If interested, you can take a look at my bio on the WKU Department of Music website: http://www.wku.edu/Dept/Academic/AHSS/M ... hp?fac=100

That is great news Kent, you are a fine player and a very nice guy. Keep up the good work.

I saw ghost riders in the sky, and they each played a York EEb tuba.

I would like to congratulate Josh Calkin on his new position as interim professor of low brass and assistant director of bands at Wayne State College (Nebraska*). Josh is a fantastic player and now will be able to put his degree in conducting to use as well!

John, do you mean Wayne State College in Nebraska or Wayne State University in Detroit?
Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. Sorry for the confusion, I didn't know there were two Waynes.

For the record, I'm one of John's students, but I'll pass along your greetings.

I will be taking over the tuba/euphonium instruction at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Tim Olt left a very talented studio in my hands and I wish him great success in his new adventures in the greater Cincinatti area.

If you are interested please take a look:

You can also e-mail me privately if you so wish.

In turn, I am taking over for Mr. Saltzman at the University of Honolulu-Manoa as lecturer of tuba. Looking forward to getting started this week, at that. Dave, glad to hear things are going well in Ohio; I've got big shoes to fill here, both in the orchestra and at UH.

Greetings all,

It was a very hard decision for me to leave BG, but knowing David is taking over has made it easier. I wish him and the studio nothing but the best for the future! Be sure to take a look at him, he's a great guy!

Best wishes,

Tim

I know nothing. It may just be that they now have a tenure track position and are required to do a search. I know that he does a good job and is supported by other faculty.

Doug has it right, we FINALLY have been able to make the tuba/euph position at K-State a tenure track. All tenure track positions here must be open for a national search.
