The Colburn School Conservatory of Music

Post by Norm Pearson »

I’m not sure how many people are aware of the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles California:

The Colburn School Conservatory of Music offers four programs: the Bachelor of Music in Performance degree, the Performance Diploma, the Artist’s Diploma, and the Professional Studies Certificate. These programs offer full support (tuition, room and board) to highly talented students pursuing the highest levels of classical music performance training. Admission is highly selective and requires a formal application and audition.

The Colburn School Conservatory of Music will be housed in a beautiful new facility across the street from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. This will be the first year for winds and percussion at the school and there is a terrific brass faculty: Jim Wilt (trumpet) Mark Lawrence (trombone) David Jolley (horn) Fritz Kaenzig and Norm Pearson (tuba). There is an opening for one or possibly two tubas.

The deadline is coming up very soon (applications must be received by January 15).
Auditions will be held in March

For more information about the school and how to apply check out the schools website:
