I believe there were two finalists that are doing trials with the orchestra I believe. One of them is Gordon Wolfe from the Toronto Symphony, I don't know the other.
Matthew Vaughn, assoc. principal trombone with the Philadelphia Orchestra, was the other finalist. Both will do trial weeks with the orchestra, before a winnner is chosen.
There is also some rumblings of other candidates playing, but i cannot confirm or deny that.
I believe the trial weeks are over, and they did not pick anyone.
a reliable source tells me the trial weeks aren't over yet, so nobody has been chosen. There won't be a selection until June at the earliest, so just hold on to your hats.
