Do you want to play professionally? Dr. Bowman's students have won nearly every military band audition in recent years. It's not by chance.

Demondrae, in my opinion, is one of the foremost musicality teachers that I have ever had the privilege to develop with (I know that's a pretty bold statement, but I firmly believe it). He has really wonderful ways of getting every last drop of nuance out of the music. Being a tubist, taking from Demondrae has been extremely helpful in improving my orchestral excerpt playing as well; since he's an orchestral player himself (on the trombone, mainly), and an avid listener of orchestral music, he's a library of knowledge on the music (and just music in general). And since he's also won some major military band auditions in the past, he surely knows what it takes to win the job. First and foremost though, he's a musician and soloist. So if you're looking to be a great musician (and who isn't? , taking from Demondrae is certainly a great choice. Just my 2 cents...

Let's see. Brian Bowman? Demondrae Thurmon? How could you possibly go wrong? These two guys are two of the most fantastic euphonium guys who ever lived. I must admit I have no advise to offer.

I'll have to agree with TubaRay, the only other thing i would consider is how does the money iron out?

Follow the money. Putting tuition, horns, and living expenses on credit cards or bank loans is not a good idea, and you should avoid it if you can. If one of these schools offers you enough cash that you can get through without going into debt, that's where you should go. That's my $0.02. For a more valuable perspective, go talk to someone who is in debt up to their eyeballs and trying to make a living as a musician in the current economic climate. I know a few if you don't (but I think you probably do).

Whom did you best relate to? Being able to get the most out of a teacher is much more important than a line on your resumé! If you really are undecided, pay for a lesson with each and make up your own mind.
