PHILHARMONIA AND CITY OF BIRMINGHAM SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Post by Ian1 »

Did anyone apply for these jobs? Auditions for both positions coming up.

Set pieces are (for interest)

CBSO - Vaughan Williams mvt 1
Philharmonia - Minuet from Suite no.1 in G

Plus usual excerpts...

Certainly is a good time to be a tuba player in the UK.
Get practising !!!

How did you get the set piece for the CBSO job? I applied for both positions, got a reply from the Philharmonia immediately with an offer of an audition, but have yet to hear from the CBSO.

Bit strange...

Wow, thanks for that info, I managed to save the day, just. They had discarded my cv because i'm not from the EU, but had forgotten that people of my nationality have special work dispensation in the UK. Audition granted, day saved. Thanks Ian!

They've got a few people auditioning next week too, so that's when my audition is. Will let you know.

Did you do the audition?

I'm glad they sorted it out for you.

Yes I had a 2nd round audition this week

I'm the tuba player in CBSO Brass Quintet and I've worked with the Orchestra for last 12-15 months so it was quite strange auditioning in front of familiar people. Didn't make it any easier!

Best wishes,

Ian

Hi!

Then I do remember meeting you once or twice. Can't remember where though, could be an audition, band contest, or with the infamous Debtford band or something. I'm the norwegian guy named Ola if that rings any bells...

Hi Ola,

I know who you are too, but can't remember meeting... Must be old age!

Have you auditioned yet?

I'm on facebook.com if you want to exchange details etc.

Best wishes,

Ian
