I will have numerous openings for undergraduate and graduate tuba students at both Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University for Fall '08. I have been assured of at least one full-tuition assistantship (probably two) available to a qualified graduate student at CMU, and my experience is that Duquesne will also grant a full tuition scholarship to a qualified graduate student. In addition, the School of Music at Duquesne has substantial merit-based scholarship money available for undergraduate students. Undergraduate applicants at CMU are eligible for scholarship and financial aid packages through the university.
Just to be clear, neither school offers additional cash stipends (over and above tuition costs) as part of the graduate scholarships or assistantships.
Duquesne offers undergraduate degrees in performance or education. Carnegie Mellon offers undergraduate degrees in performance only, but music majors have the option of earning an Education Certificate as well.
For more information about the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University, visit http://music.web.cmu.edu, or contact Michele McGregor, Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the School of Music at mtmcgreg@andrew.cmu.edu.
For more information about the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University, visit http://www.music.duq.edu, or contact Nicholas Jordanoff, Director of Music Admissions at jordanof@duq.edu.
Feel free to contact me as well with specific questions about either school or program. Please contact me with those questions directly by e-mail, rather than on this board, at cknox@pittsburghsymphony.org.

Don't forget about the music therapy and technology majors at Duquesne! Our tech. program is very well run and many of the students can really play! The Pappert School of Music is a very diverse musical environment full of great players.
Also, euphonium sudents should check out Duquesne for a chance to study with Lance LaDuke, who is an incredible player and teacher.
Come check out Pittsburgh!
