Hello Tubenet,
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Lawrence Conservatory of music will have a few Tuba and Euph openings this year. The teacher here is Marty Erickson, who if you do not know is an amazing player and a great teacher. Lawrence offers high amounts of financial aid to outstanding musicians. Another thing to consider is that the studio will be very young next year giving great playing opportunities to all incomming players. Lawrence is a University with a conservatory attached. This makes it great for those considering a double degree.
Anyone who is interested feel free contact me via PM. Or you can look at Marty's Bio and contact him at

I think that those times have changed. Mr. E really doesn't care what you play just as long as you play it well. The on site audition, which I would suggest doing, is a long lesson with Mr. E. If you can, come on Thursdays so you can meet the studio and participate in the Studio class. I would encourage everyone to talk to Marty if you are interested, or PM me.
Good Luck to all those auditioning at any school this year, I know it can be stressful.

Lawrence Conservatory 09-10 auditions
Hey Everyone,
Its never to early to think about college auditions. The Lawrence University Conservatory of music will have some openings this year for both tuba and euphonium. I would encourage anyone who is interested to contact Marty Erickson (marty.erickson@lawrence.edu" target="_blank" target="_blank). If you can, come and visit the school. Just a note of interest, in the 115 member orchestra, this year we are playing: Mahler 1, Bruckner 4, 1812, Firebird, Die Meistersinger, plus more exciting pieces. Not to mention the outstanding Wind Ensemble Rep.
Also, If anyone is near Appleton on Saturday October 18 the Conservatory will be giving a kaleidescope Concert in the Fox Cities PAC. This concert will be 70 minutes of non-stop music (last note of one group is the start of another) from the conservatories top performing ensembles (Choir, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Brass Fanfare, opera, jazz combo, I'm probly missing more). The orchestra will be performing William Tell (tuba doubling trombone 3), the Wind Ensemble will be performing Ives Country Band March, and the finale (which will feature mostly every ensemble) will perform excerpts from Tchaikovsky's 1812. This is not a free concert, tickets can be purchased through the Lawrence Box Office or the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. This concert will sell out soon if it hasn't already , so act fast.
