The Texas Music Festival will be held at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music May 30-June 28, 2008.

It's a great orchestral opportunity for college and young professional musicians. All students who are accepted receive full tuition and housing.

The 2008 repertoire includes:

Rachmaninoff Symphony No. 2
Ravel Daphnis et Chloe (Suites 1 & 2)
Respighi Pines of Rome
Stravinsky Petrouchka

You may apply with a live or recorded audition. The application deadline for live auditions is January 14. The application deadline for recorded auditions is February 8.

Live auditions will be heard in New York (1/27), Cleveland (2/3), and Houston (2/8, 11).

I'm going out for this thing for sure....anyone else out there in tuba land thinking about auditioning?

A few of my friends have done this festival and they all had good things to say about it. I am sure that quite a few people will apply.

Anyone know if there is an upper age limit for participating in this festival? I couldn't find a mention of one on the website or in the application, but it does say the festival is for college aged and "young" professional musicians ("professional" in this case meaning, I assume, "possessing a music degree").
