Hi TubeNet,

There will be an audition this spring for the tuba spot at the Curtis Institute of Music. The specific date has yet to be scheduled, but it typically happens in late March. Those who are interested may want to browse the Curtis website:

http://www.curtis.edu/html/30000.shtml" target="_blank

FYI, there used to be an age limit for Curtis applicants, but this limit no longer exists. Those who are older are welcome to apply but should know that the only degrees available for instrumental students are Bachelor of Music and Diploma (no MM).

I remember when Harry Berv was pushing me to audition there in '89. He even talked to Paul K about it. Mr. Berv was NOT happy when he found out I did not apply.
I think Ed Diefes won that year, well deserved.
At almost 40, I could be the oldest applicant with the youngest teacher!
(As long as they have married housing and onsite childcare for three kids...)
