We have undergraduate and graduate openings for both tuba and euphonium in the studio for Fall 2010. Scholarship audition dates are:

The tuba/euphonium studio consists of a very dedicated group of students from all over south Texas. They recently formed a collegiate chapter of ITEA and have been very visable performing in the community. Performance opportunities include Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Brass Ensemble, Brass Quintets, and Tuba/Euphonium Quartets.
The Department of Music and Dance consists of over 250 music majors focused in the areas of applied music and music education and over 40 dance majors focusing in the areas of performance and secondary level dance education. The recently established-graduate program offers degrees in performance, music education, and ethnomusicology.The music area of our department offers a major within the Bachelor of Arts degree and minors in Applied Music. In addition, it offers teaching fields for majors in both secondary and all-level Music Teacher Certification.All students majoring in music and dance, in addition to taking courses in general education, theory, and literature of music and dance, pursue excellence in performance in their areas of major interest. Instruction is offered in modern dance, folklorico, flamenco, ballet, voice, guitar, piano, and all of the instruments of the band and orchestra.

I am convinced that 90% of the problems with rhythm, tone, intonation, articulation, technique, and overall prowess on the horn are related to air issues.

Last time I checked the mariachi groups don't have any tuba or euphonium openings at this time but I do have a student that plays a mean banda sousaphone. I also get to hear a live latin band from my office twice a weak.
