For the 2010 year, the Pre-College program does not have any returning students. I will be able to accept up to 3 students to the studio.
I have confirmed that late applications will be accepted for tuba. Please send me a message when you mail your application, so that I can follow up with the office and make sure an audition time is scheduled for you. Auditions are in May. Repertoire will consist of your choice of solo, etude and scales.

This is a GREAT opportunity. I did it for two years, as the only tuba (second year while I was at MSM, so it was just the playing.) I played in two orchestras with conductors such as Alasdair Neale, took sightsinging/ear training and theory/harmony classes from Juilliard faculty, and played in two brass quintets and a weekly orchestra rep class coached by Harry Berv. (Not to mention lessons from big chief Don Harry during his last year at The Yard.)
I learned more here than I ever did anywhere else. Although some of the staff may have changed, this is one of the best pre-college programs in the country. This is a fantastic opportunity that no serious high school student in the greater NYC area should pass up.

From the auditions, I have accepted one student into Pre-College for 2010. Since there are two orchestras, we could use one more player if they are at a high enough level to play this rep. (We could also accept a younger player who has potential.)
If you missed the auditions, and would like to be considered for the program, send me a message asap.
The orchestral repertoire for 2010-11 looks great for tuba, and will include:
RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Scheherazade, Op. 35
PROKOFIEV Romeo and Juliet: Suite No. 2
WAGNER Lohengrin: Act III Prelude
COPLAND Billy the Kid: Suite
TCHAIKOVSKY Romeo and Juliet: Overture-Fantasy
WAGNER Die Meistersinger: Prelude
HINDEMITH Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber

Fun! Wish I got to do this as a kid!
Haha, but if you'll take a 29-year old...

I've heard that we could use a few more good trombone applicants, so spread the word if you know someone. Late applications will be accepted as long as there is space available.
