The orchestra gives 120 performances per year; but they only guarantee a minimum of 85 services for core ensemble members?

Yes, until very recently (the flood?) this orchestra was called the Cedar Rapids Symphony.
120 performances a season? I have NO IDEA where they get that. Last year's concert season was 12 concerts performed twice each.

Thanks, z. I know the difference between a performance and a service (although I doubt very many professional groups have more than 2 or 3 rehearsals per concert). But this is taken from their website:
Founded in April 1921, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Its 82 professional musicians perform more than 120 public performances to more than 40,000 people throughout Eastern Iowa each year, many of which can be heard on Iowa Public Radio and seen on Iowa Public Television.
I wonder what they are counting to get to 120 a year.

They're probably including the chamber ensembles' performances as part of the total.

Congrats to the well deserving Blaine Cunningham! He won the gig!
Blaine is a great tuba player and an even better guy! He's currently in the process of fulfilling his terminal degree requirements at UofI

Congrats to Blaine! Only met him briefly at the audition, but he seemed like a nice guy, (and from the little that I heard him play, a solid player.)
