Updated July, 2013 - We have immediate openings for one or two tuba majors!

Last year, Trevecca Nazarene University spun off two separate departments. In addition to the traditional music major degree and the music ed degree (with an outstanding placement rate...) they have a Commercial Music program under their Music department, and a separate Music Business program under their renowned Business Administration department.
This is stuff that will help get you a real job in the music field when you graduate.

The Commercial Music Program strives to prepare its graduates for a career in the commercial music industry. Located in one of the three major music centers in the United States, Trevecca exposes its students to virtually all facets of the industry both in the classroom studies and by hands-on experiences. Classes are taught by music industry professionals, and industry leaders often serve as guest lecturers.

A student wishing to pursue opportunities in the music industry in a nonperformance capacity should strongly consider the music business concentration. Course work is designed to acquaint the student with the music industry and includes instruction in music publishing, concert management, studio production, music merchandising, and public relations.

Partial music scholarships are available, and generous academic scholarships abound.

Why Trevecca?
Internship opportunities at top studios and music publishers in Nashville.
High placement rate for music ed students.
Reciprocal agreement with Vanderbilt to play in the Spirit of Gold marching band (with scholarship $$$ from payable at the end of the season)
Great climate in Nashville - not too hot, not (usually) too cold.
Absolutely beautiful 68 acre campus near downtown Nashville.
Lots of cultural and recreational activities, whatever your taste.
The Titans and the Predators.
Trevecca welcomes students from any religious affiliation who desire to learn in a Christian environment.

I would highly recommend this school for anyone looking into recording or the business side of music, as there are few places out there where you can get the kind of real-world experience you will here, taught by pros who have been doing this for decades.

Trevecca is not a state school but a private university affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene * so the tuition is the same in-state or out-of-state.
However, Trevecca offers academic, endowment, church matching, TNT, music, athletic, and PR scholarships, as well as grants, loans, and work study.
If you know what specific path you might be interested in, I can put you in touch with the appropriate faculty and administrators.

* Although 60% of all students are Nazarenes, the remaining 40% represent many different denominations and religions.

Bump for a tuba immediate opening!

It seems like every school out there is trying to be the next Juilliard or Curtis. Trevecca has a top quality music program, but that is not what we are all about. I am not going to promise that you can be the next CSO / NYPO principle tuba. Those seats are few and far between, and the opportunities are only dwindling, not increasing.

I would highly recommend this school for anyone looking into recording, publishing, or the business side of music, as there are few places out there where you can get the kind of real-world experience you will here, taught by profs who have been doing this for decades.
