G is still the highest note of the audition. They aren't cutting you much slack, just a half step.

In some orchestras Bydlo isn't the responsibility of the tubist. I don't know if that's the case in the NJSO, but not seeing it on the list or in the VERY NICE FREE excerpts download that they a providing to anyone who cares to click on their link leads me to believe that they may feel it's not a criteria they wish to consider when auditioning their new tubist...
