Kent Blossom Young Artist Program

The Kent Blossom Young Artist Program is being held from Saturday June 25-July 2, 2011.
The inaugural season in June 2011 is designed for aspiring string, woodwind and brass students grades 9-12. This intensive program offers a unique combination of master classes, seminars, performance in chamber music & additional cultural opportunities. A diverse range of students will converge on the campus of Kent State University for seven days of creativity, inspiration, and opportunity.
* Perform in Kent State’s Ludwig Recital Hall
* Rehearse chamber works culminating in a public performance
* Participate in master classes with esteemed guest artists.
* Attend workshops on sight-reading, technique, practicing, and audition/competition preparation.
* Attend concerts of The Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center
* Live on campus with peers from across the country.

KEY DATES:
April 1, 2011 - Application Deadline (includes: CD, deposit & recommendation)
April 20, 2010: Notification of acceptance
April 30, 2010: full payment due
June 25, 2011: first day(s) to arrive on campus (2:00-5:00 a.m./ Check-in)
AUDITION:
General Requirements for ALL Applicants
- Recorded auditions must be submitted by mail, by deadlines listed above.
- Recordings must not be edited or altered in any way. Kent State's Young Artist Program reserves the right to disqualify studio-altered recordings.
- All required repertoire must be played in the order listed.
- Recordings should be of the highest quality possible to assure accurate representation of your musical ability.
- Preferred – VIDEO: Digital video (DVD) is the preferred medium
- Alternate option – AUDIO only: CD recordings will be accepted with the inclusion of one letter of recommendation. (No mini-discs or cassette tapes, please).
Brass: one major scale, one minor (harmonic) / (two octaves), two contrasting selections of fast/slow Etude or Solo of your choice
COST:
The cost of each program are as follows:
String/wind/brass $700
And includes:
-All classes
-Master class
-Concerts
-Transportation to field trips
-Recreational activities
-A t-shirt
-A group photo
