Re: New Jersey Symphony
They're still in the midst of it, but I'm done. The order of candidates was based on the order in which they signed in for the day. (I was early, so I went early.) First-round list was
Letter J
Eulenspiegel
Hindemith
The Ride
Holst
Brahms
(I think I'm forgetting one other.)
Two things I thought were odd:
1) Warm-up rooms had speakers that led from the hall, so if you so wanted, you could listen to everyone before you.
2) A CCTV was setup above the sign-in table, so you could WATCH everyone before you.
All in all, I felt it was run very well.
Good luck to everyone! I'm off to do a little drinking........

Re: New Jersey Symphony
Best of luck guys. I won't be making it to the final round... I had a total choke moment... well two actually.
dvtuba is correct, that is the list, although I believe Hindemith was #2 & Till #3...
Drinking to commence shortly. Possibly dinner. email me if any of you want to meet up. (not sure if I'll be in NJ or NYC, I can do either).

Re: New Jersey Symphony
I was told by someone at this audition that there were 18 semifinalists total, and 5 were advanced as Finalists.
I believe 3 of them are:
Michael Stephan
Derek Fenstermacher
Trevor Culp

Re: New Jersey Symphony
Derek Fenstermacher and Nathan Turner were selected as 2 "super-finalists" whom will each play a few concerts with the orchestra, after which point a final winner will be determined

Re: New Jersey Symphony
That's interesting, I heard that Derek Fenstermacher won the tuba spot with New Jersey. The orchestra musicians' webpage hasn't been updated yet, still lists the seat as vacant. In either case, the orchestra is getting a fantastic tuba player and musician; just a question of which one ...

Hi,
Should have clarified. Nathan was offered the position but can't take it because of his position in the West Point Band. I know this because he is my brother in law.

Someone should tell Nate about the "once in a lifetime opportunity" separation from the Army, if we still do that.

If anyone is curious, from what I've seen on Facebook, Derek got the job. Not sure why/how. Looks like Nate got Albany.

Re: New Jersey Symphony
I collect rep lists and am missing this one. If anyone still has a copy, I would really appreciate it if you could post a copy.Jeff Keller wrote:Holy crap! Thats a heck of a rep list!
I am currently updating my spreadsheet I use to collect a list of all excerpts asked, and those which are asked most often. I currently have close to 100 lists and will post the results as soon as I have finished entering the data.
