Their conductor, Bramwell Tovey, is a great man to work for, himself an accomplished Tuba Player as well as pianist, and a lifelong brass band fan. He's the professional conductor of the Fodens Band too.

The excerpts to the first round were in order:
Meistersinger
Mahler 1
Hungarian March
Prokofiev 5
Walkyrie
17 participants showed up, 6 went on to the second round and 2 to the section playing. Peder Maclellan won.
