Job Summary: Assistant Professor of Tuba/Euphonium, Tenure-Track. Assistant Professor with a Doctorate Degree, Tenure Track; Instructor with a Master's Degree, Non-Tenure Track. Salary and rank commensurate with degree earned and experience.

Job Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate applied tuba and euphonium. Teach tuba/euphonium component of low brass methods class and direct the tuba/euphonium ensemble. Additional duties may be required based on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the candidate.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree required required from a regionally accredited institution or university. The candidate must have 18 graduate hours for every field that he or she will teach.
Evidence of strong tuba/euphonium teaching and performance ability on tuba and/or euphonium. Evidence of ability to recruit and retain quality tuba and euphonium majors.

Salary: Salary and rank commensurate with degree earned and experience.

There were four finalists total, all very well known people. Three came to campus to interview/audition.

The Department of Music at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applicants for a full time academic year tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Our department seeks an engaging teacher/scholar/performer who will inspire and mentor students in all aspects of music.

Primary responsibilities include instruction of four-course Music History sequence and the low brass studio. Additional responsibilities may include music appreciation, or other areas dependent upon the interests and qualifications of the candidate. Leadership in the advancement of the departments' pedagogy and curriculum in non-western course offerings such as Latin American, African, South Asian music would be expected. Scholarly and/or performance activity and professional service including recruiting would also be expected in this position. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of teaching and research skills. Potential for grant writing is a plus. Teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.

Required: PHD or DMA at time of appointment, performance and studio teaching experience in low brass area.

Desirable: Artist level performance ability and pedagogical experience in low brass area, interest or experience in developing music business program and/or online course instruction.
