On Saturday, January 28, 2012 The United States Army Band, "Pershing's Own" will be hosting Mock Band Auditions for both tuba and euphonium during the 2012 Tuba-Euphonium Workshop. The auditions will take place as part of the annual Workshop with opportunities for musicians to prepare and perform in front of a committee of professional military musicians selected from the Department of Defense Special Bands. All rounds will be screened allowing the audience the opportunity to listen from the perspective of the audition committee. The experience from the candidates' prospective will be exactly that of an actual screened military band audition.

Candidates will be allowed an opportunity to receive feedback from the committee after their audition day is completed. Candidates from the final round will also receive a recording of their audition along with committee discussion. Included with the feedback from the final round will be a U.S. Army Bands Program official score which can be used as the entrance audition score required for consideration of enlistment into The U.S. Army Bands Program. This is in no way a binding agreement. It is simply an audition evaluation score in case you choose to further pursue Army Bands opportunities.

The 2 audition winners will perform with The United States Army Concert Band during the final Saturday night Grand Concert.The musical selection will come from the prepared audition list.

The schedule is as follows:
Saturday, January 28

early morning first round (likely 8:00am start. final time determination TBA)
evening finals in front of audience (likely 4:30pm)
nighttime Grand Concert sitting in with The United States Army Band, "Pershing's Own" (7:30pm)

We plan to invite mock audition candidates based on resume and letter(s) of recommendation. The level of qualifications will depend on the quality of the applications. We will need to limit the numbers based on time constraints which are not finalized yet. The first round will likely be fairly short for those auditioning while the final round(s) will take more time to vet candidates. This is very much in line with all auditions.

The most highly qualified applications will be invited to participate.

The final round will be open to the audience to listen. There the audience will be allowed to not only listen to the auditionees but also the panel's deliberations.

We have no established age limit. The audition is geared towards those interested in auditioning for military bands which do have established limits. If you are past those age restrictions then the experience may not benefit you.
