1st annual Spectrum Brass Seminar

Post by jcameron »

I am very excited to announce that Spectrum Brass will be in residence for the first annual Spectrum Brass Seminar at the Bay View Music Festival, June 15-August 12, 2012. The Bay View Music Festival is one of the oldest and most personal in the United States providing at 2/1 faculty - student ratio in a uniquely beautiful setting. Students have the option of attending a 4 or 8 week intensive seminar to really hone one’s craft in a supportive, empowering environment. In addition, there are festival concerts twice a week which feature Spectrum Brass, and numerous performing opportunities for students as part of quintets and large brass ensembles.

We are currently looking for advanced undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in exploring the world of brass chamber music. In addition to weekly coachings and lessons, there will be training in all aspects of the music industry including arranging, programming, staging, brand design, and much more. We are accepting applications for individual brass players and/or pre-formed brass quintets. Our students will work closely with the members of Spectrum, and get the chance to hear us perform several times a week. This summer, we will have room for 2 student quintets so be sure to send your best materials!

While Bay View is a tuition-based festival, the optional month-long time frame allows students to continue working through the remainder of the summer when not at Bay View. When combined with potential scholarships, it makes this festival one of the best values in a summer program at a beautiful, serene location.
