James Bland Lions Club & US Army Field Band Concerto Comp

Eric Black (my son), 16 year old Junior at Park View HS in South Hill, VA has advanced to the Final Round of the James Bland Lions Club Concerto Competition. He won both the local and regional instrumental divisions playing the Gregson Tuba Concerto, MVT 1. He is in the state final round in Chesapeake, Virginia on May 18th going against 5 other instrumentalist. This is an open class competition and so far he has faced string, wind and piano players of all high school ages,

He is also a finalist in the US Army Field Band 2012 Young Artist Competition in Ft. Meade MD May 12th.

He plays on his 1975 Mirafone 186 5 rotor CC for this piece and studies with Tom McGrady of MACK Brass of VA.
