On Saturday, February 2, 2013 The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" will be hosting Mock Band Auditions for both tuba and euphonium during the 2013 Tuba-Euphonium Workshop. The auditions will take place as part of the annual Workshop with opportunities for musicians to prepare and perform in front of a committee of professional military musicians selected from the Department of Defense Special Bands. All rounds will be screened allowing the audience the opportunity to listen from the perspective of the audition committee. The experience from the candidates' prospective will be exactly that of an actual screened military band audition.

Candidates will be allowed an opportunity to receive feedback from the committee after their audition day is completed. Candidates from the final round will also receive a recording of their audition along with committee discussion.

The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, February 2
early morning first round (likely 8:00am start. final time determination TBA)
evening finals in front of audience (likely 4:30pm)

Looking forward to hearing you dominate the 2013 TUSABTEW Mock Band Auditions. Last year's euphonium winner put his audition experience to good use and recently won a position with Pershing's Own through a rigorous day of auditioning. The 2012 tuba winner also obtained a position in a regional orchestra.

The Mock Audition will be conducted exactly as we conduct actual auditions and include an All-Star Panel with members chosen from all of the Special Bands in DC. Finalists will receive recordings of their auditions. This is a rare opportunity to hear yourself in an actual recorded live audition setting under the same nervous pressures that come along with presenting yourself before Professional Military Musicians judging your talents to gain future employment.

All candidates will receive feedback from the committee and access to the members for one on one discussions of how they can improve and conquer their next audition.

We are trying to get all the logistics finalized on our end. The audition music will be available the first week of December.

I highly recommend this competition. I found the feedback to be invaluable, and the judges talked with many of the competitors afterwards. Anyone going to the TUSABTEW should definitely apply for this competition, and if you're not going you should! This a fantastic workshop.
