UGA Tuba Assistantship
Posted: Fri Dec 07, 2012 8:40 pm
Hello!
As a result of Simon Wildman winning the Marine Band audition recently, there is now an opening for my dedicated TA for next fall. The duties include:
Graduate Brass Quintet (3 rehearsals per week, recitals and School of Music service)
Performing in a large ensemble each semester
Studio duties (Projects throughout year, sub teaching, assist with Tuba Euph Ensemble, clinics)
The assistantship offers full tuition waiver, plus a generous stipend of $10,00-$12,00, depending on the degree program.
Our cutoff for priority consideration for grad school was December 1. I will consider all of the folks that have already applied, but have decided that the field should be opened up to ensure that we allow those who might have applied if they had known that there was a TA available. The new deadline will be January 15.
If you, or anyone else you may know, might be a good fit for UGA at either the MM or DMA level, please let them know of the availability of the assistantship. They will have to apply to the Grad School and the School of Music and submit a preliminary audition to be considered.
The preliminary upload consists of the following:
Any complete etude from Rochut: Melodious Etudes for Trombone, Book 2 (down one octave)
Wagner: Overture to Die Meistersinger (RN J to RN L)
Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5, mvmt. 1 (RN3 to RN6)
Berlioz: Hungarian March (RN4 to 4 after RN5)
Two contrasting movements of solo repertoire (live recordings okay)
I plan to invite about six candidates in for an audition in early February. They would play an audition consisting of two (different) movements from solos, five Orchestral Excerpts of their choice and two selections with Brass Quintet (Malcolm Arnold, mvt 1, Ewald #1, mvt. 2)
If you have any questions, please shoot me an e-mail!
Warm regards,
Dave
