Job Title: Assistant Professor of Trombone
Department: Music
Location: The University of Arkansas is a land grant college located in Fayetteville, a city of 58,000. Enrollment is just under 25,000; the Department of Music has 30 full-time faculty, 8 part-time faculty, 260 undergraduates, and 35 graduate students. Degrees offered include the BA in Music, the BM in Music Education, Performance, Composition, and Theory, and the MM with a variety of emphases. All degree programs are accredited by NASM. The University will open a newly renovated, state of the art concert hall in 2015.
Northwest Arkansas is a metropolitan area of approximately 350,000 people and is statistically one of the fastest growing regions in the nation. Fayetteville offers a rich cultural environment and the geographical area is consistently cited as one of the most desirable places to live in the United States.
Description: RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach applied trombone, recruit and maintain a competitive trombone studio, direct the trombone choir, maintain an active performance profile, perform with the faculty brass quintet, serve on departmental and college committees, and advise students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate preferred; master’s degree with significant professional experience will be considered. Applicants should show college teaching experience and a body of professional-level performance work. Applicants with a background and skill in jazz teaching and performance should include this information. The successful applicant will be an integrated scholar responsible for meeting departmental and college goals in teaching, research and service.
RANK & SALARY: Assistant Professor, tenure track. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Nine-month position.
