Notice of Faculty Position
Assistant Professor of Trombone
Description> The Department of Applied Music has an opening for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Trombone to begin August 2014. Join a vibrant campus community with excellence reflected in its diversity and student success.
Responsibilities> Teaching load will include applied trombone lessons, directing one of the university jazz ensembles, brass methods classes and performing with the faculty brass quintet as well as faculty jazz groups. In addition, there is the possibility of other assignments in the instrumental area in the candidate’s area of specialization or expertise.
Qualifications> Artist/teacher with a specialty in trombone performance. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in trombone performance or related area. ABD considered. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong, current record of performance in both classical and jazz ensembles and will have prior teaching experience. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing the daily demands and recruiting responsibilities of a large trombone studio. Candidate must successfully complete interview process and teaching demonstration to be considered a finalist.
School of Music> The School of Music is a part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts with approximately 1000 students and 100 faculty in music, art, theatre and dance. The School of Music enjoys full NASM membership and offers fully accredited degrees in Music Education, Theory and Composition, Music History and Music Performance on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
